The objective of the multipurpose intermediate waste storage facility (EIP in French) is the long-term waste management (from the CEA Marcoule, before being sent to the CIGEO. The CEA continues to analyse, define, and consolidate the strategy of construction of new MIWS facilities

setec tpi provided the preliminary structural and functional design services for the MIWS facility under two different configurations, including the following disciplines and activities:
- Civil Engineering architecture and technical conception of the structure
- Definition and preliminary dimensioning of the plant’s operations and systems
- Definition of the nuclear ventilation and assessment of the requirements
- Consolidation of the safety and radioprotection on the structural design of the facilities
On the basis of this preliminary design, the PCDR (Performance / Costs / Deadlines / Risks) data were established. Finally, a CAPEX envelope budged including all disciplines was obtained for each of the two analysed configurations.
