Urban Study on the New Urban Renovation Project in the Lochères district in Sarcelles, Ile-de-France.
The urban study pertains to the “Grand Ensemble de Lochères”, the first social housing cluster in France. Its construction, entrusted to Jacques-Henri, started in 1955.
The project is particular due to the innovative construction processes implemented (chain-built housing blocks…), and its urbanisation scale. With its 12,000 dwellings, divided into ten neighbourhoods and covering a total area of 156 hectares, the Lochères are home to two thirds of the population of Sarcelles, 37,000 inhabitants.
The New Urban Renovation Project reflects the ambition to profoundly requalify the living environment of the inhabitants and to open up the neighbourhood.
